And I’m Off… Starting This Blog And Why.
Why have I decided to start this blog? I really don’t know why. I don’t consider myself a blogger. Generally, I don’t read blogs and have never blogged myself. I guess I’m doing this because I feel a need to capture and release thoughts on a few subjects that a close to my heart. I don’t claim to know anything. I’m not an expert on any of this. I consider myself to be a life long student on the issues that face humanity and the world we inhabit.
I have always been fascinated with cultures other than the one I was born into. Always interested to get a deeper understanding of how other people live, their beliefs, social systems and behaviors. I consider myself to to a traveler. Although I haven’t physically reached many of the far away countries I dream about, my heart is in each one of those places hoping to catch a glimpse of the colorful cloth the varied cultures of this world weaves.
I am here to celebrate all that this world has to offer. But I am also here to gain perspective, understanding and vent on a subject that concerns me greatly –the atrocities that are taking place all across this planet to indigenous cultures and to women. How is it that we can still allow genecide to take place? How can we watch whole cultures disappear? How can we sit back and watch as women in so many countries are humiliated, beatened, raped, killed and terrorized daily? How can we pretend this isn’t happening?
For me, apathy is not a path I can take. I may not have answers or know what to do about any of these issues, but living in a bubble doesn’t make it go away. I am writing this to explore answers and ways to help stop these nightmares from happening so we can all continue to learn from the indigenous people and honor women –because without women, none of us would be here.
Ideally, I would like to have a new blog on these subjects weekly or more. We’ll see how that goes. I ask for and welcome all your feedback, comments, and questions. My goal is to gain knowledge that can help fuel a change. I will be very grateful for any help reaching this goal.

excellent idea starting this blog. we need more instruments of awareness outside the mainstream media to bring attention to the real issues in the world. Tired of OJ, Britney, ad nauseau. Love to you and all you do.
